Important Lessons Drawn from Chairman Hussain al Nowaise
The managing director and chairman at Emirates holdings in Abu Dhabi is Hussain al Nowais. He has a lot of experience in different sectors such as the banking sector, construction, real estate and investment among others and has been a global industrialist and non-business strategist. This experience in the various sectors in business has made him to be one very experienced and skilled individual and someone to look up to. Too many, he has been a great source of inspiration and many important lessons drawn from him.
First and foremost, vision is very important for any leader for example a CEO. You must be able to have full knowledge of the business from the inside out when you’re a leader. One thing you must have in mind is where the company is headed and where it ought to be. It is until then that they’ll be able to guide employees and those under them on how things should be handled. The cause of action to be taken and decisions to be made is dictated by the vision. As of direction is achieved by the company and everyone in them.
One must be accessible and approachable by everyone in the company or business and this is another important quality that has been learned. What has taken over as the approach not is the open-door system. This simply means that anyone can be able to approach leadership without any hindrances and share their hearts and mind concerning certain things that could be troubling them.
One other important quality is respect. Respect is one thing that is two-way in that when you respect someone you’re also respected in return. It is always good to respect your employees even though they are under you and under your command. This is very important because instead of commanding respect you and your respect and peaceful coexistence is fostered between you and your employees. As they are relating among themselves you will be a good example to them that they will emulate.
One thing that has also been pointed out is learning from people even as you scale up the ladder. Those people around us always teach us something for instance even those who are below us for example employees. It is important that you continue learning from people and not to despise anyone even as you scale up the career ladder. Whatever you learn all is make sure you apply and put into practice so that it ceases to be knowledge but it may also transform you.
But not least, it is important to be true and honest with yourself and others. People will do the same to you as you do to them.
